Tear Brings Ominous Atmosphere to Iverson Era in Memphis

It's not surprising that Allen Iverson is going to dominate nearly every headline involving the Memphis Grizzlies ;this season. ; Unfortunately, one of the first significant headlines about The Answer is that he is going to be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks after tearing a hamstring prior to the Grizzlies' win over Oklahoma City on Wednesday.

Now, Iverson is getting up there in terms of age, so his body is undoubtedly closer to breaking down than, say, O.J. Mayo's. ; That being said, the main cause of hamstring injuries is inactivity. When you don't warm up or keep your body in top shape before practice or a game, you risk pulling muscles. ; Since AI has been out of action for a while after being benched in Detroit, he spent the offseason trying to latch on anywhere he could. ; If he was so intent on getting a free-agent deal done, you would think he would have been working out in his spare time to keep his conditioning at an appropriate level. ; Of course, he knows that, so this could just be a freak early-season injury. ; The Grizzlies can only hope there aren't any lingering effects of this injury as the season progresses.

Knicks preseason so far

So far it looks a lot like last year. ; Who knows who is going to play and how well they will do. ; Sounds a lot like a Dr. Seuss title. There is one thing that looks like it will be consistent and that is David Lee. ; He looks like he will do a double double most every night. ; Draft picks Toney Douglas and Jordan Hill have looked like rookies. ; They don't look like they will add much fire power early on. ; But, they are young and need time to develop. ; Wilson Chandler looks like he will start and probably have the second most amount of ; minutes this year. ; Who will be the leading scorer? ; Lee might score the most points at season's end without ever being the leading scorer in a game. ; Nate Robinson has his moments as does Al Harrington and Larry Hughes. ; But, they also can lay goose eggs the next night.

Jackson just cant get his way

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Jackson just can’t seemingly learn how to behave – it doesn’t matter where he plays or what he does, he’s always in the headlines for the wrong reasons either on or off the court.

After a relatively quiet start to his career in San Antonio and Atlanta, ever since he arrived with the dysfunctional Indiana Pacers at the start of the 2004-5 season it has been a long downhill run for the swingman.

Within a couple of months of his Pacer debut, he was handed a 30-game ban for his role in the Palace of Auburn Hills brawl and the season after he was charged with criminal recklessness for firing his gun during an altercation outside a strip club in Indianapolis.

Although things were better for him after a trade to Golden State in early 2007, he was ejected twice during their NBA playoff series win over Dallas, but he did go on to become an important cog in Don Nelson’s team until his demand for a trade this summer.

Knick of hope

Hey fellow Knicknews users, the new season is here, and if you need information from a person that has contact with the Knicks beat writer, I'm your guy. I will have news and information about The Knicks, after Newsday has it of course, both are owned by James Dolan, and Cablevision (Stock ticker (CVC), I'm covering all bases right now).

The Knicks will take on the Nets tomorow, 2pm, in Albany. It will give all of us, the first glance at the team that will take on this "hump year", one that is sure to leave the fans excited and in a frenzy. If the team makes the playoffs, free agency doesn't feel as bad, but if they miss it, then all the attention turns to attracting, two of the best players in the NBA, to their organization. Bringing back some MSG magic.

I think the team will be able to sneak in the back door of the playoffs this season and probably, take out a team like the Pistons. I'll write down how i think the East will shake out.
