James Vick Manny and Beckham take a look in the mirror

Dave Dameshek, an ESPN.com podcaster gave kudos to Andre Agassi today, ( http://sports.espn.go.com/stations/player?context=podcast&id=4352192) on his podcast for his infamous mantra “ Image is everything” which Agassi stated in a Canon commercial over fifteen- years ago. Still, Dameshek argued, Agassi’s words seem fitting today as some top athletes currently find them-selves in a position of trying to restore their image due to off-field episodes that seemingly rattled their once squeaky clean perception. On Tuesday, TMZ released the feared truth; Lebron James was in fact dunked on by a Syracuse Guard named Jordan Crawford several weeks ago at the Lebron James Camp in Ohio. James reportedly may have confiscated the tapes, with the help of some Nike representatives unt

The Indiana Pacers and the nineten

As writer and editor of this blog I am going to be referring to the upcoming season as "the nine.ten" for obvious reasons. The Pacers appear to be ready to make another pretty good step towards respectability and perhaps the even the playoffs. With the waiving of Jamal Tinsley it seems they are finally putting the past behind them and with a few notable additions it seems that a leaf which was partially overturned last year is fully flipped for the nine.ten.

The Pacers have guys getting healthy, guys getting older and better and some completely new guys. I like what hustle players, Tyler Hansbrough and Dahntay Jones bring to the team. It seems that our defensive intensity will definitely be taken up a notch. When teams bring in someone like Jones who takes his defense very seriously it almost always rubs off in a positive way on teammates. This is absolutely necessary for the nine.ten if you look at last year and see how many times we scored well over 100 points but still lost games. Any improvement in defense is a good thing for a team like the Pacers. I am also excited to see how Danny Granger responds to being an all-star last year. Is he going to be a one-year wonder resting on his accomplishments of the past or is he going to work harder and try to get back and be a perennial all-star? ;

Jerebko heats up like a hot Summers Daye

Leading into this years Las Vegas Summer League, post-draft whimpers continued to echo through the alleys of Detroit. Poverty stricken Piston fans were still baffled by yet another night of head scratching picks.

Too thin, too short and too...who in gods name is this white kid from Sweden? Why didn't we move up to get Earl Clark? Why didn't we pick up Ty Lawson? Why won't Joe just listen to us fans for once?

Well, if this week's Summer League performances are any indication of how these three young forwards will play in the NBA, the future is bright and Joe D has pulled off the impossible. He found three diamonds in the rough of a weak draft.

It's obvious to this Detroit fan that the new threesome has gelled, proving that Mr. Dumars was a draft hero - not a zero.

Celtics snap Spurs hex

The four NBA titles in nine years that the San Antonio Spurs have enjoyed? That was supposed to happen in Boston.
Tim Duncan was supposed to be the next great player to carry on the Celtics' tradition. He was the player that would have restored Celtic Pride to what it was during The Bird Era in the 1980s. His effortless skill ;had every team in the league wishing that the No. 1 pick in the 1997 draft was theirs. ;
Boston did everything it could to acquire that pick. The Celtics were ;a bad team in a ;league dominated by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. ;They had no hope for the future, a ;pathetic team ;sinking slowly into irrelevance. Duncan was going to be the shot of adrenalin that the team and the city needed to care about basketball again and Rick Pitino, Boston's new head coach and team president, would be the man to assemble a supporting cast and guide the Celtics back to respectability.

TSP Venue Reviews TD Banknorth Garden

One of us took a trip to the TD Banknorth Garden Sunday to take in the game between the Spurs and Celtics. The game took a familiar NBA tone, boring first 2 1/2 quarters followed by an intense final 18 minutes. As discussed in the Roundup the Celtics ended up winning by 8, however the game felt like it was missing something with Kevin Garnett out for the Celtics and Tony Parker missing from the Spurs.

As for the entire fan experience, it had its peaks and valleys. First of all, the parking situation was convenient and cheap compared to other big cities I have attended games in, we only paid $10 to park!! We had to walk about a 1/2 mile to the arena, but walking through the picturesque Boston Common, City Hall section of the city was well worth the trek. Something about walking in Boston makes me feel smarter, not sure why it just does. Me and the group I was with stopped at a sports bar right across from the arena named The Harp. Looking to get a quick burger and drink before the 1pm start of the game, we were surprised to find out that the bar did not serve alcohol until Noon!! Other then that the place was great and I bought a burger and a beer (Blue Moon) for $15.00, not bad at all.

Suns Rumors and off-season moves

Grant Hill Rumors

Grant Hill met with Doc Rivers over the weekend and according to Comcast Sports Net ( http://www.csnne.com/wickedgoodsports/rasheed-is-a-celtic/ ) he is expected to agree to a deal with the Boston Celtics before the week is over. The Suns have been actively pursuing free agent Grant Hill but it is rumored he wants to play with a championship contending team for his final season. Grant Hill has been a stand up guy with the Suns, a great locker room guy, and the most consistent defender on the Suns team. For the first time in many years he was able to play all 82 games last season and put up career numbers.

;

Ben Wallace Rumors

Ben Wallace was the main piece brought over from the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Shaquille O’Neal trade. The main reason Ben Wallace was acquired is because it was rumored that after not seeing much court time last season and his trouble with injuries that he would accept a buyout of his contract or retire which could save the Suns a considerable amount of money. Since Wallace has been acquired by the Suns there has been little to zero talk about what the plan is for him.
